Chapter 10 - Eleanor Attempts To Gaslight Her Furious, Devastated Son

“You are listening to this lying, incompetent gold-digger instead of your own flesh and blood?!” Eleanor shrieked hysterically.

“She manipulated you into throwing your mother out on the street for a couple of trumped-up bank statements!” Eleanor wept dramatically.

“The bank statements don't lie, Mother. The shell corporations registered in Florida under your maiden name don't lie either,” Ethan said flatly.

“I am your mother! You owe me everything you have today! Without me, you’d be a nobody in this corporate world!” she sobbed.

“You gave me life, but you spent my entire adulthood trying to control, manipulate, and rob everyone around you,” Ethan replied quietly.

“You will pack your bags right now, or I will have federal marshals drag you out of this house in handcuffs,” Ethan warned.

Eleanor realized her manipulative tactics had completely failed; her son was no longer the obedient boy she could control.

She grabbed her designer handbag, her face twisted into an ugly, venomous mask of hatred and bitter resentment.

“You will regret this day, Ethan! You’ll be begging me to come back when she drains every penny you own!” Eleanor screamed.

She stormed out the front door, slamming it shut behind her with a resounding crash that rattled the American flag on the porch.
