Chapter 6 - Rushing To The Hospital Leaving The Toxic Mother Behind
The hospital emergency bay lights flashed a sterile, blinding white as Ethan slammed his SUV into Park outside the sliding doors.
He scooped Noah into his arms, sprinting into the triage ward with Chloe right on his desperate heels.
“Help us! Our baby has a high fever and is struggling to breathe!” Ethan shouted to the front desk pediatric nurse.
Medical staff swarmed them instantly, wheeling Noah back into the trauma resuscitation bay on a rolling stainless steel gurney.
Chloe collapsed into a plastic waiting room chair, sobbing uncontrollably into her hands as the heavy double doors swung shut.
Ethan sat down beside her, wrapping a strong, comforting arm around her shoulders while his own jaw clenched in suppressed rage.
“He’s going to be okay, Chloe. The doctors here are the best in the state; they won't let anything happen to him,” Ethan comforted her.
Two hours later, Dr. Harrison walked out into the waiting area wearing blue scrubs and carrying a clipboard.

“Mr. and Mrs. Bennett? Your son is stabilized now; he has acute bronchial pneumonia and severe dehydration,” Dr. Harrison reported.
“Dehydration?” Ethan asked, his eyes narrowing as he realized his mother had withheld water and formula from the sick baby.
