Before Friday’s civil hearing could even commence, federal postal inspectors and FBI agents descended upon the women’s detention center.
Armed with newly approved federal indictments, Agent Miller entered Eleanor’s holding unit with an unyielding expression.
“Eleanor Bennett, you are formally placed under arrest for federal wire fraud, racketeering, and corporate conspiracy,” Miller announced.
Eleanor dropped her plastic cup of water, her face turning chalk-white as the heavy steel handcuffs snapped around her wrists.
“You can’t do this to me! My son is an executive! I demand a phone call to my attorneys!” Eleanor shrieked in absolute terror.
“Your attorneys are currently under federal investigation for suborning perjury and laundering your stolen funds,” Miller informed her coldly.
She was hauled out of the facility in handcuffs, her burgundy blazer replaced by a standard orange federal detention jumpsuit.
