Chapter 4 - Chloe Explains The Months Of Systematic Household Abuse

Chloe struggled to stand up from the kitchen tile, her legs shaking from utter exhaustion and emotional trauma.
“Ethan, she wouldn’t even let me buy infant formula without demanding receipts and humiliating me for hours,” Chloe whispered brokenly.
“She locked me in the pantry last week because I spilled a drop of coffee on her expensive imported dining room rug.”
“And she made me polish every silver utensil in this house while holding a sick, vomiting baby with a 104-degree fever.”
Eleanor rolled her eyes dramatically, letting out a sharp, mocking laugh that cut through the tense suburban kitchen air.
“Oh, stop playing the pathetic victim, Chloe! Hard work never killed anyone, and you needed character-building discipline!” Eleanor scoffed.
Ethan stared at his mother as if seeing a complete stranger for the very first time in his entire life.
The woman who had raised him was not a dignified matriarch; she was a cruel, narcissistic tyrant who preyed on the vulnerable.
