Chapter 14 - The Decrypted Server
Lead Digital Forensic Auditor David Reed stepped into the Zurich villa study through the terrace doors, carrying a heavy tactical diagnostic kit. He immediately sat down at Victor’s white marble desk, shoving the trembling financier aside.
David plugged his encrypted gold-plated cable directly into Victor’s master server terminal.
BEEP. WHIRRR.
The high-frequency diagnostic software bypassed the firewall within forty-five seconds.
"Mainframe cracked, Boss," David announced, his fingers flying across his backlit keyboard. "We have full access to the Aegis Horizon ledger. Every single shell account, every real estate deed in New York and Miami, and every hidden bearer bond is mirrored on our secure servers."
Victor Vance let out a broken, pathetic sob, sliding down the marble desk until he sat crumpled on the floor.
"Please... take the money," Victor wept, burying his face in his hands. "Take the accounts, the properties, everything! Just don't let Lorenzo hand me over to the Italian or American authorities! They'll throw me in a supermax hole for the rest of my natural life!"
Lorenzo didn't even look down at the groveling man. He walked slowly around the desk, his eyes scanning the panoramic windows overlooking the pristine waters of Lake Zurich.
"You spent twenty years helping the Moretti syndicate launder blood money, Victor," Lorenzo said quietly. "You financed the arson of an immigrant auto shop in Queens that left an innocent man broken and dying. You thought an ocean would keep you safe from the consequences of your greed."
Lorenzo turned his head, locking his amber eyes onto Victor’s terrified face.
"An ocean is just a wider stage for justice," Lorenzo added.

Two Swiss federal police officers, summoned by Rocco via secure channel, marched through the front doors of the villa in dark tactical uniforms. They didn't hesitate. They hauled Victor Vance to his feet, slapped heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists, and marched him out toward the waiting transport cruisers.
The Swiss ledger was secured. The shadow empire was officially extinguished.
