Chapter 18 - The European Restitution

Three months after the foundation dedication, the international financial restitution process concluded with a total, historic victory in Geneva, Switzerland.

Inside the private assembly hall of the Federal Banking Commission overlooking Lake Geneva, the five presiding auditors delivered their final, unappealable decree:

All offshore accounts, bearer bonds, and commercial assets formerly held under the name of Richard Avery and Harrison Vance were formally, unconditionally transferred into The Sterling Sovereign Legacy Trust, under the sole, exclusive directorship of Emily Sterling.

Richard’s former associates in Belize and London had completely capitulated, signing over every disputed share to avoid federal extradition.

My father, Marcus Brody, and I walked down the grand marble steps of the Palace of Nations into the crisp, clean Swiss winter air, holding hands beneath a cloudless sapphire sky.

Marcus Brody tucked the certified international banking decrees into his leather briefcase with a wide, triumphant grin.

"Every single dollar stolen over the last five years has been recovered with maximum statutory interest, Chairwoman," Marcus reported. "The trust is completely solvent, untouchable, and sovereign."

I stopped at the edge of the terrace, looking out over the sparkling blue waters of Lake Geneva, where the snow-capped peaks of the Alps rose magnificent and unyielding against the horizon.

"We didn't just recover money, Marcus," I smiled, looking at my father. "We restored our family's honor."

My father wrapped his arm around my shoulders, his eyes shining with profound, quiet pride. "Your mother would be so proud of you, Emily. You stood like iron."
