Chapter 17 - The Confrontation

Arthur jumped to his feet, pure panic bleeding into his rising, frantic voice, trying desperately to maintain control of the narrative. "Your Honor, this proves my point exactly! Look at her! She's having a severe manic episode! She shouldn't even be out of the house, she’s a massive danger to herself and others!" I walked right past him without even blinking, ignoring his existence, my posture perfect, my head held high, and stood directly in front of the judge's elevated bench. "Your Honor," I said, my voice steady, crystal clear, and dripping with absolute, unwavering authority. "For the past year, the man sitting behind me has been intentionally slipping heavy doses of unregulated, dangerous antipsychotics into my daily routine to chemically induce memory loss and complete compliance. He hired a disgraced, unlicensed doctor to forge my entire medical history to steal my inheritance." I placed the heavy duffel bag on the evidence table and unzipped it with a harsh, loud rip. Marcus stepped forward and handed the judge the original toxicologist report, the creepy stalker photographs Arthur had taken of me before we met, and bank records showing massive, illegal wire transfers from Arthur's hidden account to Dr. Thorne's offshore shell company. "You'll also see the biometric security logs from a hidden room in his house, where he methodically plotted to steal my two-hundred-million-dollar trust fund the very moment I turned thirty," I continued, not breaking eye contact with the stunned judge. The courtroom was dead, pin-drop silent. The judge flipped through the horrifying photographs and documents, his expression turning from judicial confusion to absolute, visceral disgust. He looked up fiercely at Dr. Thorne. "Is this true, Mr. Thorne?" Thorne broke instantly under the intense pressure and the threat of federal prison. He threw up his hands, sweating profusely and crying uncontrollably. "He paid me! Arthur paid me half a million dollars to forge the file! I told him the drugs were dangerous to a healthy brain, but he didn't care!" "Shut up!" Arthur screamed, losing his carefully crafted, charming composure entirely. He lunged violently toward Thorne with murderous intent, his face twisted in demonic rage, but the two armed court bailiffs tackled him to the ground in seconds, pinning him heavily to the carpet.
