Chapter 13 - CHRISTIAN’S MARRIAGE
Christian and Veronica separated for four months.
Not because adultery.
Not because criminal conspiracy.
Trust.
He had discovered she minimized his family trust’s relationship to SVC because disclosure complicated procurement.
She had discovered he had considered leaving before the wedding over her obsession with San Vittore.
Healthy marriage.
Then they entered counseling.
No forced divorce for narrative punishment.
Christian asked one question repeatedly:
“Would you have married me if losing San Vittore happened first?”
Veronica could not answer at first.
Eventually:
“Yes. But I would have been unbearable.”
He laughed.
That was probably true.
They remained married.
Not magically healed.
Better boundaries.
Christian moved his family trust assets into a structure where he received clearer conflict reports.
Veronica stopped involving him in San Vittore-related decisions.
Then she built something separate.
Her own event consultancy.
