Daniel came to Maya's apartment three days later.
Vance opened a thick classified file.
Inside were photographs.
Reports.
Witness statements.
Then he placed one photograph in front of her.
Maya stopped breathing.
The man in the picture had her eyes.

Vance spoke quietly.
"General Alexander Hawthorne."
Maya stared at the photograph.
"He's my father?"
Vance nodded.
"Yes."
Tears filled her eyes.
"He searched for me?"

Before he could testify, his convoy was attacked.
