Chapter 7 - The Preparation

In the underground security command center of the mansion, Damian stood before a wall of high-definition monitors. The red light of the perimeter sensors blinked rhythmically in the dark room.
Julian tapped a touchscreen, bringing up a live feed of the southern approach road. "Viktor's men are moving. Three vehicles. Heavily armed. They'll be at the outer gates in twenty minutes."
Damian didn't flinch. His expression was carved from granite. "Double the guard rotation on the north wing. Seal the master suite."
"What about Clara and Maya?" Julian asked cautiously.
Damian’s jaw tightened. "Move them to the safe room behind the library. The biometric lock can't be bypassed without my iris scan."

"I'm going to meet them in the courtyard," Damian said, sliding a heavy, suppressed automatic pistol into his holster. "It's time to remind everyone in this city whose name is carved into the foundation of these streets."
