Why move the objects to the hotel?
At first I thought concealment.
Wrong.
Visibility.
The wedding suite was full of witnesses.
Photographer.
Wedding planner.
Maid.
Bridesmaids.
Family.
Gift registrar.
Insurance appraiser scheduled Sunday morning.
Harrington turnover Monday.
Evelyn wanted one weekend of documentation showing a single merged household.
Her possessions.
Wedding gifts.
Isabelle objects.
Grace’s locket.
Everything together.
Then after the wedding:
“This is how the household existed at marriage.”
The claim would still be legally weak.
But socially powerful.
Imagine the argument.
New bride.
Wedding weekend.
Photographed household objects.
Items insured together.
Hotel staff witnesses.
Then trustee arrives Monday demanding certain pieces be removed.
Evelyn could cast Harrington as humiliating the new Mrs. Moretti by stripping her home immediately after marriage.
She could ask me to delay.
Delay becomes negotiation.
Negotiation becomes “temporary household loan.”
Temporary becomes years.
