Chapter 19 - THE CHOICE

Julian arrived before sunrise.
He walked into the vault alone.
I pointed a gun at him.
“You're the heir.”
His eyes filled with exhaustion.
“Yes.”
“You knew.”
“I found out after the divorce.”
“And you stayed silent.”
“I was trying to destroy it from inside.”
“You lied to me.”
“Yes.”
“You used me.”
“Yes.”
I lowered the weapon.
Not because I trusted him.
Because I finally understood.
He had been trapped too.
But that didn't erase what he had done.
Julian placed a folder on the table.
“Victor wants the boys.”
“What do you want?”
“To end this.”
“How?”
“By becoming what they expect.”
I stared.
He would take control of the Orchid Circle.
Then dismantle it from within.
Nathan shook his head.
“That's suicide.”
Julian smiled.
“Probably.”
I looked at him.
“And me?”
“You walk away.”
“No.”
He frowned.
“I've spent my entire life being protected by men who made decisions for me.”
I stepped closer.
“I'm done.”
My mother smiled.
For the first time, she looked proud.
We built a plan.
Julian would accept the succession.
Victor would bring the Circle's leadership together.
Then we would expose everything.
But Victor had one final move.
He kidnapped Leo and Oliver.
The call came at midnight.
Victor's voice was calm.
“Bring me the ledger.”
I looked at Julian.
Then Nathan.
Then my mother.
My sons were somewhere in the dark.
I picked up the phone.
“You want the ledger?”
May you like
“Yes.”
“Then come get it.”
