Chapter 7 - The Reckoning

Marcus stood frozen in shock, his hands still gripping Liam's collar. The realization that he had walked straight into a sting operation registered on his face in a flash of pure terror. He released Liam and tried to take a step back, but the officers were on him instantly, forcing him to the ground and slapping handcuffs onto his wrists.
"You framed me! This is a setup!" Marcus screamed as he was pressed face-down into the dirt—the very same dirt where he had humiliated my husband for years.
Liam stood tall, adjusting his jacket, watching calmly as his tormentor was led away in the back of a squad car. He didn't yell, he didn't gloat, and he didn't shed a single tear. The invisible chains that had bound him for a decade snapped clean in two.
I sprinted out of the van and ran across the grass, throwing my arms around Liam's neck. He caught me, lifting me slightly off the ground and burying his face in my shoulder. This time, he wasn't crying out of despair; he was weeping with profound, overwhelming relief.

The police gathered our footage, taken from multiple angles with crystal-clear audio recording Marcus’s explicit threats and physical aggression. The evidence was ironclad.
