Chapter 10 - The Healing Gift

For Chloe’s fourth birthday, Liam spent weeks in his workshop preparing a special surprise. He crafted a beautifully detailed wooden playhouse shaped like a fairy cottage, complete with tiny carved squirrels on the porch.
On the morning of her birthday, we led Chloe out to the backyard with her eyes closed. When she opened them, she let out a tiny gasp of delight and ran toward the playhouse, running her fingers over the smooth, polished wood.
Attached to the side of the tiny cottage was a small, hand-carved wooden plaque with an inscription Liam had carefully carved himself. It read: To Chloe, the bravest little girl in the world, who brought the sunshine back to Daddy’s heart.
Liam knelt down next to her on the grass, putting his arms around her small shoulders. Chloe turned to him, placed her soft little hands on his cheeks, and looked directly into his eyes.
"Daddy happy now?" she asked with a sweet, innocent smile.
Liam smiled back, a genuine tear of pure joy slipping down his cheek—a tear that was freely shed, surrounded by love, without fear or shame.

"Yes, sweetheart," Liam replied, pressing a loving kiss to her forehead. "Daddy is happy now. And he'll never have to cry again."
We stood together under the warm sun, a whole and healed family, leaving the shadows of the past behind forever.
