Chapter 6 - The Mask Falls

Marcus chuckled, a chilling sound that echoed through our headphones. He took a step toward Liam, his posture aggressive.
"You think because your wife knows a little bit, you can grow a spine?" Marcus hissed. "Let me remind you who built you, Liam. You are nothing without me. You sit on your knees like you always do, or I will destroy your life, your marriage, and your family. I will make sure Chloe grows up visiting her father in a federal pen."
"There are no federal pens for expired claims, Marcus," Liam said, his voice growing surprisingly firm and steady. "I checked. You lied to me for ten years. You stole from my family."
Marcus’s face twisted in rage. Dropping all pretenses, he lunged forward, grabbing Liam by the collar of his jacket and slamming him back against the gazebo wall.
"You don't get to talk back to me!" Marcus snarled, raising his boot and placing it heavily on Liam's shoe, attempting to force him down to the ground. "Get down on your knees! Beg me, like you always do!"
That was the moment. Marcus had put physical force behind his extortion, captured on three separate high-definition video cameras from different angles.

"Now," I whispered into the radio.
Before Marcus could realize what was happening, two unmarked police cars—notified by David’s team of an active assault in progress—pulled up onto the park grass with sirens wailing. Officers jumped out with weapons drawn, commanding Marcus to step away and put his hands in the air.
