Chapter 8 - THE WEDDING OF THE CENTURY

Six months later, summer arrived in full, glorious bloom across the coastal estate of St. Andrews. The skies were a brilliant, cloudless turquoise blue, and the warm ocean breeze carried the sweet scent of white roses and lavender across the manicured lawns.
The wedding of James McKenzie and Rachel Matthews was held at the edge of a dramatic cliff overlooking the shimmering Atlantic Ocean. Hundreds of distinguished guests—world leaders, philanthropists, close friends, and family—sat in pristine white chairs lining the blossom-covered aisle.
James stood at the altar beside his best man, Marcus Vance, looking extraordinarily handsome in a custom black tuxedo. His eyes never left the top of the aisle as the wedding march began to play from a live symphony orchestra.
First came little Tyler, now nearly two years old, looking adorably sharp in a mini tuxedo, toddling down the aisle throwing flower petals from a small silver basket, cheered on softly by the smiling guests.
Next came Chloe, the Junior Maid of Honor. She wore an exquisite white lace dress with a yellow sash—her favorite color—carrying a bouquet of white calla lilies. She walked with supreme grace, a bright, radiant smile illuminating her face.
And then came Rachel.
She was breathtaking. She wore an ethereal silk gown with delicate hand-embroidered pearls, a long lace train sweeping behind her, and a soft veil haloing her radiant face. She walked down the aisle on the arm of Chief Miller—the police officer who had answered James’s emergency call that fateful night and had since become a cherished family friend.
When Rachel reached the altar, James took her hands in his. His eyes filled with tears of pure devotion as he looked upon the woman who had brought ultimate meaning to his life.
They exchanged vows they had written themselves—vows not just of love between a man and a woman, but vows of eternal protection, family, and unshakeable loyalty.
“I promise to love you, honor you, and shield you from every storm,” James said, his voice deep and ringing with conviction. “I promise to spend every second of my life ensuring that you, Chloe, and Tyler never know fear, hunger, or sadness again.”
“And I promise to walk beside you forever,” Rachel replied through happy tears. “You rescued us from the darkest night, and gave us a future full of light.”

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the minister declared joyfully. “You may kiss the bride!”
James pulled Rachel into his arms, dipping her gently as he kissed her passion-filled lips to thunderous applause and cheers from the crowd. White doves were released into the azure sky, soaring high above the ocean waves.
