Chapter 7 - The Birth of Miracles

By week thirty-two, the physical strain of carrying four growing infants reached its critical threshold. My body felt heavy, beautiful, and miraculous, but Dr. Harrison’s daily scans indicated it was time to bring my little miracles into the world.
The morning of the delivery, the surgical suite was a symphony of calm, coordinated expertise. Twenty-two specialists—neonatologists, surgical nurses, anesthesiologists, and pediatric therapists—stood ready, each assigned to one of my four babies. Sarah stood right beside my head, holding my hand and whispering words of encouragement as the epidural took effect, numbing the world below my chest.
“Are you ready, mama?” Sarah asked, her eyes shining with unshed tears.
“Let’s meet my babies,” I whispered, my heart soaring with a fierce, protective love.
The operation was a masterclass in modern medicine. One by one, the tiny cries filled the operating room—four distinct, healthy, beautiful voices announcing their arrival to a world that had suddenly become infinitely brighter.
“First twin, baby girl, breathing on her own! Weight: four pounds, two ounces!” “Second twin, baby boy, strong lungs! Weight: three pounds, fifteen ounces!” “Third twin, baby girl, beautiful color! Weight: four pounds, five ounces!” “Fourth twin, baby girl, active and feisty! Weight: four pounds, one ounce!”

As the pediatric teams rushed them to the warming stations for initial assessments, Sarah brought each one over for a brief, magical skin-to-skin touch against my cheek. Their skin was soft, their heartbeats synchronized with mine, and their tiny fingers curled instinctively around my thumb.
They were safe. They were healthy. And they were completely, perfectly mine.
