Aria stopped.
Then continued.
I understand now that watching cruelty and refusing to interfere because intervention is inconvenient is its own choice.
That was better than “I’m sorry.”
He wrote:
Victoria did not make me look away. I looked away because I was afraid of losing money, status, and the life I understood.
Aria cried.
Then:
When you ran, you did the thing I had been too cowardly to do for years.
She wrote back one sentence.
Keep telling the truth even when nobody forgives you for it.
That became the extent of their relationship for a long time.
