Chapter 9 - Eleanor’s Final TruthThe inheritance trial took place three months later.

The courtroom was packed.

Charles was already facing separate investigations for fraud, forgery, and evidence tampering.

For weeks, the judge examined every document.

Finally, the day of the ruling arrived.

The original will was authentic.

The second version had been forged.

Claire Morgan was legally recognized as a descendant of Rose Whitmore.

And the 31 percent ownership stake was to be transferred to her.

But before the proceedings ended, Samuel asked permission to present one final piece of evidence.

Another video of Eleanor.

The elderly woman appeared sitting beside a window.

“If Claire is watching this, I want to ask something of her.”

Claire felt a knot in her throat.

“Do not let the necklace turn you into the kind of person who destroyed our family.”

Eleanor spoke about Rose.

About her courage.

About Sarah.

And finally, about Victoria.

“Perhaps the two branches of our family can accomplish what we never could.”

Victoria began to cry.

Claire took her hand.

Charles watched from the opposite table.

Eleanor ended by saying:

“Fortunes disappear. Family names do too. The truth is the only thing we can leave intact.”

When the video ended, no one spoke for several seconds.

Then the judge closed the file.

“Ms. Morgan, legally, the necklace belongs to you as well.”

Claire stood.

“Then I already know what I’m going to do with it.”
