Chapter 10 - The Dawn at Long Island

Six months later.
The summer sun shone brightly over the grand estate on the shores of Long Island. The scars of the battle had been erased; the marble floors were restored, the broken glass replaced, and the garden bloomed with fresh, brilliant red roses.
On the terrace overlooking the ocean, Clara stood wearing a simple silk dress. She looked healthy, the color restored to her cheeks, the trauma of her past finally fading into memory.
Footsteps sounded behind her—steady, slow, and familiar.
Dominic walked out onto the terrace. He wore a crisp white shirt, the sleeves rolled up, revealing the faint scars on his arms. He looked strong, commanding, but when he looked at Clara, the harshness in his eyes completely dissolved.
He walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. Clara leaned into his warmth, resting her head against his shoulder.
"The lawyers just called," Dominic murmured into her hair. "The actual ledgers were recovered from your mother’s old safety deposit box in Chicago. The rest of the Costa network has been completely dismantled by federal authorities. It's over, Clara. The past is dead."
Clara looked down at her hand, where the heavy gold signet ring was now joined by a delicate, brilliant diamond band.
"Is it strange?" Clara asked softly. "A year ago, I was working three jobs, sleeping on a broken couch, and terrified of the future. Now... I have everything."
Dominic turned her around gently in his arms, looking down into her eyes with a quiet, profound devotion that no longer needed to be hidden behind mob politics or dark secrets.
"You saved my mother," Dominic said softly. "You saved my life. And you gave me a reason to build something better than a crime empire."
"And what is that?" she asked, a small smile playing on her lips.
"A home," Dominic replied.

He leaned down, pressing his lips to hers in a slow, deep kiss that carried no blood, no secrets, and no danger—only the promise of a quiet, peaceful forever.
Above them, the blue skies stretched endlessly over the Atlantic, bright and clear, proving that even from the violent ashes of the dark, something impossibly beautiful could grow.
