Chapter 10 - Bennett’s Son

The child was born healthy.

Delilah named him Noah Monroe.

She did not use Wexler.

Bennett’s paternity was legally established, and a support arrangement was created based on his actual resources. Helena initially refused to meet the baby. She said the entire situation had destroyed Charles’s final memory.

Several months later, she changed her mind.

The meeting took place privately.

I was not present, but Delilah later described it to Naomi.

Helena held Noah for less than a minute before crying. She saw Bennett’s eyes, Adrian’s chin, and something of Charles around the mouth.

“This child did not humiliate us,” she said. “We humiliated ourselves before he existed.”

It was the first statement of accountability anyone heard from her.

Helena did not become a warm grandmother overnight. She remained formal and controlling. However, she established a trust for Noah overseen by independent professionals rather than Bennett. The document specifically prohibited funds from being used to support the adults’ lifestyles.

For once, family wealth was structured to protect the person with the least power.
