Chapter 10 - A New Dawn in Carmona

The golden morning light of Sunday filtered gently through the lace curtains of the Carmona house, casting a warm, serene glow across the living room. The air was filled with the rich, inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and my mother’s famous cinnamon rolls, baking in the oven just as they had every Sunday morning of my childhood.
Outside, the autumn breeze rustled the leaves of the grand oak tree in the front yard, standing tall and resilient against the passing seasons.
I sat at the head of the dining table—the very table where Derek had once cruelly told my parents they weren't allowed to eat—surrounded by warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. My father, Manuel, sat to my left, looking strong, respected, and completely at peace. My mother, Carmen, sat across from us, humming a cheerful tune as she poured another cup of coffee.
My phone buzzed gently on the table. It was a final notification from Inez regarding the settlement closure.
"Case officially closed. All assets restored, titles secured under the master trust, and permanent restraining orders in place. Enjoy your family, David. You earned this."
I smiled, locked the screen, and placed the phone face down. The legal battle was history. The nightmare was over. What remained was a fortress built on thirty-eight years of honest labor, unyielding sacrifice, and a son's fierce devotion to protecting the people who had given him everything.
"Everything alright with the lawyers, son?" my father asked, catching my eye with a knowing, affectionate smile.
"It's all completely settled, Dad," I replied, raising my coffee mug in a quiet toast. "Forever."
My mother reached across the table, placing her gentle, flour-dusted hand over mine. "We couldn't have done it without you, David. You saved our home, but more importantly, you brought our family back together."
"We did it together," I corrected her softly, looking between them both with a deep sense of gratitude and fulfillment. "We protected what matters most."

As we shared our Sunday breakfast in the warm, sunlit sanctuary of the house we had fought so hard to reclaim, I knew that no amount of greed, betrayal, or deceit could ever break the foundation we had built. The shadows of the past were gone, washed away by justice and truth, leaving behind a future filled with peace, prosperity, and endless love.
The war for Carmona was won, and our family story had finally found its true, beautiful, happily-ever-after ending.
